QinetiQ’s Defense Technologies and Solutions Business Unit has an exciting and important role within the Business Development group. We are primarily responsible for identifying, qualifying, and capturing all new business and maintaining existing business for the business unit. This is a new role primarily focused on support for new business research and assessing key factors in our current business process. This position will be based out of our Lorton VA office, with a requirement for occasional travel and some flexibility for telework. This will be in agreement with Operational Performance Management on a rotational basis across the team and subject to business needs.
Joining our team as a Data Analyst will be the ideal opportunity for a college Graduate, or individual pursuing a career specializing in data research and analysis. The successful candidate will receive full management support, a development plan, in team training and a Senor Business Development leader will Mentor you on your journey along with support from the wider Business Development team.
Your Contribution to Our Mission:
Working closely with the capture managers and senior QinetiQ leaders to ensure our divisions and the Business unit meet the overall business development goals through research, data visualization, and data assessment reports.
Researching and Identifying new opportunities.
Presenting outputs in varying report formats to working groups, management/senior leadership forums and our divisions key leadership.
Working with various opportunity research tools, data modeling and visualization tools and generating regular reports that track overall business development progress.
Support achievement and improvement of KPIs, undertaking detailed data analysis, interpretation, reconciliation, and validation of past and current data (daily/weekly/monthly). Identifying trends, assessing performance and any deviations against SOP’s and obligations. Provide data to inform the Monthly Dashboard and BD operation.
Support liaisons with the BD Manager and wider team to ensure that all requirements and submissions are in line with company requirements.
Ensure deliverables are accurate, of high quality and meet business requirements through application of business rules and adherence to processes/procedures.
Be proactive in looking at and suggesting creative ways to drive change and improvements of our data tools, processes and working practices to drive efficient ways of working, best practice, and conformance with our security protocols.
Work with Operational Performance and BD leadership to evaluate ad hoc requests for data and/or reporting to align work streams and priorities. Escalate any workflow issues to Business Development Leadership.
Support working with technical teams and wider colleagues to contribute to cross-functional working groups and projects as required.

To Land This Job, You Need:
Ability to perform Data research and identify potential issues and process gaps in the business development lifecycle.
Experience in Data preparation and visualization (Govwin, Sam.gov, Salesforce)
Excellent competency in Microsoft office packages, particularly in excel, PowerPoint and knowledge of other software packages.
Experience working with complex data sets and awareness of performance monitoring/reporting
Ability to identify and apply appropriate solutions with support.
Positive, want to/can-do attitude and ability to work on own initiative
Motivated and goal driven with a keen interest in self-development and continuous learning
Active listening and good communication skills
Statistical analysis knowhow - problem solver with logical and creative thinking
