Introduction:

Located at the entrance of the historic estate and gardens of George Washington, The Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant is looking for a Catering Sales Manager to oversee the breakfast, lunch, and dinner catering service. This position includes a sales and promotion function intended to generate new business, as well as maintain relationships with current customers. This key role is expected to be an expert in the following areas: customer service, event planning, and the ability to follow through on the coordination of multiple vendors in order to successfully execute an event. This Position requires availability for morning and/or evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Position Specific responsibilities:

Sell and help plan all catered functions, working with the Banquet Manager to execute the highest quality events
Prepare and execute error-free event contracts
Work with the GM and Chef to plan menus and develop themes
Coordinate all outside vendor support such as floral, entertainment, photography, etc… as needed for the event
Clearly communicate information to appropriate staff with the use of function sheets and providing verbal reporting at staff meetings
Maintain organized files of invoices, contracts and communication pieces
Work closely with other Mount Vernon departments to execute in-house events
Develop new relationships with corporate clients and government agencies

Qualifications:

Minimum of four years of restaurant and/or hotel event experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Ability to effectively communicate {speaking, reading and writing} in English is required; additional Spanish language skills preferred

Special Requirements:

Position requires ability to walk and stand for long periods as well as to lift and carry up to 20 pounds regularly
