Day Porter - Job Summary

The day porter is a position within the line of operations of C&W Services. The incumbent is responsible for performing the day-to-day and periodic cleaning activities in assigned work areas. Basic responsibilities may include any combination of the following tasks trash removal, recycle removal, dusting, spot cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, washing/scrubbing projects, restroom cleaning, hard floor maintenance (including auto-scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing, and burnishing), carpet maintenance (including spot removal, shampooing and extracting), pressure washing, recycling, and miscellaneous general maintenance activities (restocking supplies). Specific responsibilities for each day porter will be determined by client expectations, account manager/supervisor discretion, and porter/matron capabilities and experience.

Responsibilities/Tasks/Duties

• Performs daily and periodic tasks in assigned areas as directed

• Maintains a neat and orderly work area, including janitorial closets and storage areas

• Performs all cleaning assignments in accordance with C&W Services approved procedures

• Maintains cleaning equipment in good working condition, and notifies the account manager or supervisor if repair or replacement is necessary

• Maintains appropriate supply levels in assigned janitorial closets and storage areas

• Works safely at all times and promptly informs management about unsafe conditions existing in the work area

• Wears personal protective equipment appropriate for the task being performed

• Meets all client and C&W Services quality expectations in assigned tasks

• Adheres to proper security procedures

• Notifies C&W Services account manager about problems or opportunities that affect service to the client

• Performs other cleaning-related duties as required

• Assists the building chief engineer with some light engineering duties such as light bulb replacement, etc.

Requirements

• Cleaning responsibilities require previous experience

• Advanced skills, such as hard floor and carpet maintenance

• Must be able to take direction, to work with minimal supervision, and to function cooperatively as part of a team

• Requires attention to detail, a pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance
