Job description
Major/Essential Functions
Performs scientific research related to vaccine development to tuberculosis.
Assists with training and direction of graduate students and volunteers.
Assists with data analysis, the preparation of manuscripts and posters.
Responsible for day to day maintenance of lab and lab equipment; including ordering supplies and verification of receipt in appropriate university systems.
Prepare drafts of research papers, posters and talks to disseminate research results. Yearly submission of grant applications. Presents data at lab meetings and possibly regional and national meetings.
Required Qualifications
PhD or equivalent doctorate (e.g., D.Sc., M.D.) in area of project specialization Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof.
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public.
Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in working with infectious diseases in biosafety level 3 (BSL3) facility, small animal research, cell culture and flow cytometry.
