The Job Developer will create an Employment Plan for persons served based on their identified interests and skills that will guide job development activities. The Job Developer will develop relationships and employment opportunities with area employers/businesses to promote and secure community employment for persons served.
Essential Ressponsibilities:
- In cooperation with the Interdisciplinary Team, contacts employers and networks to develop/acquire jobs for persons served with various abilities.
- Knowledgeable of incentives for employer, and other ways P.I. can assist employers (contracts, job carving, and adaptation of job duties and/or job sites in hiring of persons served.)
- Attend monthly community civic organization meetings.
- Conduct informational interviews/tours with area businesses.
- Develops employment plan for each person served.
- Assists, as needed, in job search, application, and interview processes.
- Coordinates with the Interdisciplinary team in assessing and assisting with job-related issues: financial matters (including impact of governmental assistance),transportation, clothing, and any other problems that could affect satisfactory competitive employment.
- Studies case files and evaluations of persons served to gain helpful information.
- Keeps current with documentation and maintains records for organization and regulatory entities.
- Cooperates with Employment Team to best assist persons served.
- Reads and studies material to stay current in Job Coaching/Development techniques.
- Subscribes to P.I.'s mission, purpose, and philosophies.
- Keep current in P.I. updates by via email, voicemail, S-Comms, GER, T-logs on a daily basis.
- Present a professional, business like image to customers, prospects and the public.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or 5 years experience or combination of education and experience. Preferrably in human services, sociology, psychology, education, human resources, marketing, sales or business.
- Within 30 days of hire must complete Job Coach/Developer certification through either Iowa APSE or the College of Employment Services (CES) within 24 months of hire.
- Must obtain nationally recognized employment support professional certification by taking APSE’s Certified Employment Support Professionals (CESP) exam and keep current as required.
- Must possess knowledge of various disabilities (i.e.; brain injury, mental illness, Asperger’s, ID, etc.) and implement training programs that are individualized to each person.
- Must believe that all persons are capable of community based employment.
- Willingness to accept professional training as provided by Agency.
- Maintain a valid Iowa Driver’s License with a good driving record, and a private automobile used to carry out job duties. Hold adequate liability insurance (required: $100,000/$300,000/$50,000).
- Attend all mandatory training required of this position, including 4 hours annual continuing education in employment services. (12 hours annually once CESP certification is obtained)
- Have adequate computer skills to complete job duties as assigned.
