**HIRING BONUS**
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is looking to hire lifeguards/Swim instructors. Join our team and help protect the lives of our swimmers and to teach patrons how to swim and be safe in the water. We are currently hiring for PART-TIME position.
REQUIRED (please do not apply if you do not have the following):
Lifeguard applicants must have a valid lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized agency (Red Cross, YMCA, Ellis and Associates, etc.).
Swim instructors must have a valid CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification or equivalent from a nationally recognized agency (Red Cross, American Heart Association, etc.).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lifeguard a variety of swim programs ensuring members, staff, and patrons are safe at all times. Conduct safe classes at all times by adhering to standards established for physical fitness classes in terms of exertion and avoidance of contraindicated exercises. Maintain a dynamic and personable attitude while instructing participants. Assist the Program Director and other Lifeguards with planning, developing, and implementing age and skill level appropriate swim activities and lessons for members as well as patrons. Maintain a safe environment within the aquatics facility area and locker rooms by proactively enforcing established rules and thoroughly following all necessary opening and closing procedures. Provide exceptional customer service to all members and parents of members as well as patrons even if/when consulting with them about important safety or disciplinary matters. Encourage members to feel comfortable, safe, and accepted in all programs offered and provide extra assistance or alternative accommodations to those with physical challenges or disabilities
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Prospective lifeguard applicants must have a valid lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized agency (Red Cross, YMCA, Ellis and Associates, etc.).

SKILLS TEST:
Qualified applicants will be called in for in-water skills test and upon successful completion will be scheduled for an oral interview.
5 minute brick tread while holding a 10 lb brick
100 meter swim in 1:40 minutes or less
Passive submerged victim rescue (at 9 ft depth) with removal Adult/Child CPR Swim 25 yards,
Retrieve a 10 lb brick, return 25 yards and exit the pool
LOCATION: Village Clubhouse: 3115 Roosevelt Street, Carlsbad, CA 92008
HOURS: Sunday - Friday: 15 - 20 Hours Per Week
