Job Summary:
Responsible for patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist as mandated by State Practice Act. Possesses training and education which allows them to assist the Physical Therapist in carrying out prescribed treatment program.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Utilize time efficiently to meet productivity requirements of the facility.
- Participate in and present clinical in-services, as directed
- Maintain current awareness of general changes in health care field and specific issues impacting the practice of physical therapy.
- Play a significant role in specific area of center operations as agreed upon between employee and Center Manager.
- Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills.
- Active listening, reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the course of a work day/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.
- Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a work day/shift.
- Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written direction.
- Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.
- Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community.
- Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling and preparing patients, equipment, and supplies for treatment.
- Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.
Required Credentials:
- Graduation from a physical therapist assistant or physical therapist education program accredited by CAPTE or in the case of a graduate of an international physical therapist assistant program or international physical therapist program from a non-CAPTE accredited program seeking licensure, certification, or registration as a physical therapist assistant, a substantially equivalent education
- Current valid State license/registration/certification.
