Job description
At UConn Health the Genetics and Genome Sciences Department seeks to hire a Special Payroll Research Assistant.
The selected candidate will work on a research project to characterize the molecular and cellular mechanisms of mitochondrial quality control in human cells using CRISPR functional genomics, molecular, cellular and biochemical approaches.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Conduct established experimental procedures and participate in research projects.
Laboratory maintenance (i.e. restocking consumables, washing glassware, autoclave)
Molecular cloning
Generation of cell lines
CRISPR screens
Isolation of mitochondria from cell culture and conducting the follow up assays
Restocking labs supplies and washing glassware
Making buffers/solutions and autoclave
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in cell culture
Basic skills in biochemistry/molecular biology (DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, western blotting)
Schedule: 40 hrs per wk, Mon - Fri, 8:30am - 5:00pm, some flexibility and weekends are needed
