About the Job
This individual will be responsible for the planning, analysis, evaluation, design and coordination responsibilities for municipal water and wastewater treatment, wastewater collection, water distribution system improvements and other “wet utility” operations
Water/Wastewater Engineer Mission: To serve a critical role for rural and underprivileged communities through the design of water, wastewater, drainage, or roadway infrastructure projects to meet critical infrastructure needs.
At a minimum, a B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required, with preferred work or practical experience in areas related to design of civil engineering, water and wastewater infrastructure.
Water/Wastewater Engineer Expectations:
- You’ll be responsible for planning, analysis, evaluation, design, and coordination for small projects, or as part of a team on larger projects, such as municipal water and wastewater treatment, wastewater collection system replacement, water distribution system improvements, drainage and roadway design, etc.
- You’ll use your communication skills to correspond with small communities to obtain data and write about the findings in a way that is clearly understood by all
- You’ll convey findings, typically through public speaking, at Town Board meetings.
- You will be involved in the analysis of pipe hydraulics, pump system design, equipment selection, and alternative evaluations on various projects.
- Must be willing to take on a variety of tasks over and above your job description to serve our small town clients with a variety of infrastructure related challenges
- Facilitate communication between all stakeholders, before, during, and after construction
- Responsibility for permitting will be on your shoulders; you will be walking through the permitting process at every stage to ensure the project has received all necessary clearances
Water/Wastewater Engineer Skills and Experience:

- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in water resources
- Licensed as a professional engineer in the State of Colorado or eligible to be licensed through application by reciprocity within no less than 6 months
- Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Must be self-motivated and excellent verbal and written communicator
- Have the ability to work with and mentor others
- Experience in the design of complex water and wastewater projects
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
